Hello folks! Once again the response to last week’s newsletters have been really uplifting! I started this little project as a way to write sustainably with the business of life, and it seems that some of you are also finding it really valuable. So thank you! The best thing you can do to help this grow is share the newsletter with a friend. Let’s get this to 100 subscribers!
Before we get into the news, I just wanted to drop a link to our Discord again. A few folks from the last newsletter have joined, and it’s becoming a great place to talk about the games we are playing, and organizing some lobbies. We just had an Armello game night a few days ago, which was tonnes of fun!
Anyways, onto the news.
What happened this week?
Wrestlequest delayed at the last minute due to save destroying bug
Developer: Mega Cat Studios
Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1867510/WrestleQuest/
Wrestlequest was due to be released today for all major platforms, but Mega Cat Studios have delayed the game for two weeks at the very last minute, due to a save-deleting bug discovered during last minute testing.
Considering that Sony had already published the launch trailer, and reviews have been hitting YouTube and various outlets for the past few days, you have to respect Mega Cat Studios for making the decisions to pull the launch in order to provide the best experience for their players.
Wrestlequest will now launch on August 22.
SCUM launches major update
Developer: Gamepires
Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/513710/SCUM/
SCUM is one of those hardcore Milsim survival games. You know the ones, where you have to manage your body heat, and thirst, and hunger, and… teeth? Seriously, just look at this interface.
SCUM has just launched a major update called Smokin’ Hot which has updated all the male character models after revamping all the female characters last year. It also adds new enemies, locations, and hits v0.9 which means a full release is surely on the horizon. If this seems like your jam, it’s running a sale right now too.
Verne: The Shape of Fantasy launching on August 14
Developer: Gametopia
Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1424600/Verne_The_Shape_of_Fantasy/
Verne: The Shape of Fantasy tasks you with becoming Jules Verne as you explore the sea and unravel the secrets of Atlantis, all while a war is taking place in the background. The art of this one looks really striking, and it promises intriguing dialogue and fun puzzles. There is a demo currently available, and it will be launching on PC next week.
Devolver hosts Delayed Showcase
The masters of industry shit posting are at it again, this time with their Devolver Delayed showcase, mimicking the Nintendo Direct format insanely well, right down to the voice overs that sound like aliens trying to imitate genuine human emotion… you know what I’m talking about. The best three minutes you’re likely to spend this week on YouTube.
Ship Graveyard Simulator 2 arrives August 16
Developer: Games Incubator
Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2201940/Ship_Graveyard_Simulator_2/
Was Hardspace: Shipbreaker just too fantastical for you? Well now you can get your scrapping game on with the ships of the sea! I looked up the reviews for the first game and it seems pretty well liked, so if this is something you need in your life, it arrives later this month.
That’s a wrap! We will be back on Friday with the indie game releases!
